The Pohanka story is an interesting one. Our founder, Frank S. Pohanka ran away from his Bronx home at an early age. It wasn’t long before he became a stable boy on Long Island, and eventually became a successful jockey. His high-speed jockeying career eventually transitioned into a career as a successful GM mechanic and service representative. Never one to rest on his accomplishments, in 1919 Frank opened his first dealership and service center in Washington D.C. That one dealership has since grown to a network of 17 dealerships and 11 collision centers that stretch across the Delmarva Peninsula. Pohanka Automotive Group of Salisbury has always believed in giving back to its community, and in 2009, in the midst of a country-wide recession, we doubled down on that effort with the Pohanka Pays It Forward program. Since the program’s creation, we have donated to over 750 charitable organizations totaling more than $1,000,000! Our commitment to this community here on the Delmarva Peninsula is strong.
